Become an ASA Sailing School

In the past year ASA has provided valuable benefits to its member sailing schools called ASA Affiliates. Here are some examples.

ASA

  • Offered educational support based on our 25 years of experience in worldwide Sailing Instruction and Sailing Education.
  • Placed articles in many national and local publications.
  • Represented boater’s interests with local and national governments.
  • Exhibited at many leading boat shows and provided free sailing lessons to thousands of people.
  • Contributed to a variety of environmental organizations dedicated to protecting our waterways.
  • Polled all certified students and awarded the prestigious ASA Outstanding School award to superior sailing schools based on the polling results.
  • Organized business meetings for school owners and sailing instructors.
  • Operated a system-wide 401 (k) plan for sailing school employees
  • Renewed our U. S. Coast Guard approval of the ASA Instructor Qualification Clinic as a recognized safe boating course.
  • Awarded ASA Outstanding Educator Award annually to instructors from around the country.
  • Established a comprehensive, national sailing school insurance program. This long awaited national umbrella of coverage will continue to grow as services are added.
  • Sponsored flotillas and other sailing events designed to help schools increase their visibility with the public.
  • Introduced new endorsements to the ASA sailing curriculum, including Radar, Weather and Docking Endorsements.
  • Established the ASA Standards Committee, made up of professional sailing instructors and educators committed to improving the quality of our sailing programs.
  • Expanded ASA's website, www.american-sailing.com which provides links to our sailing schools.
